Wrocław | Premiere of Paweł Hendrich's "Osamotnienie(nie)..."

Caspar NeumannThe New Music Orchestra under the baton of Szymon Bywalec will premiere Paweł Hendrich's work Osamotnienie(nie)... and perform several accompanying miniatures by the composer on 25 October 2021 at the Ossoliński National Institute in Wrocław. Osamotnienie(nie)... is an expression of respect for the residents of Wrocław who suffered due to Covid-19.

The composer himself wrote in 2020: "The concept of the piece derives from the current pandemic situation and the related limitations. As a society, for the first time in several decades, we have found ourselves in this kind of situation of common danger. Although it concerns all of us, each of us perceives it subjectively. […] The work will depict the emotions felt during the pandemic by the residents of Wrocław – a city that became one of the first outbreaks of an epidemic in Poland. We will hear sounds symbolizing rebellion against unwanted isolation, forced separation from loved ones and constant uncertainty. "

The premiere of Paweł Hendrich's piece, combined with the closing of the exhibition "Psychopomp", is the final event of the project "Caspar Neumann. Souls and Funds. Book of Births and Funerals for the City of Wrocław", held on 4-25 October 2021. The aim of this project is to encourage the audience to jointly reflect on issues such as climate, ecological and medical problems. The project includes an exhibition, concerts, a scientific conference and sociological research. The guides are members of the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists and people of culture and science invited to cooperate.

The work Osamotnienie(nie)... was created with funds from a scholarship from the City of Wrocław.
