Warsaw | 6th "Trzy-czte-ry. Contexts. Contrasts. Confrontations" Music Festival

34The 6th edition of the "Trzy-Czte-Ry. Contexts. Contrasts. Confrontations" Music Festival will be held on 13 November – 3 December 2021 at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw.  This year's edition will highlight the music of three composers: Paweł Szymański, Paweł Mykietyn and Igor Stravinsky.

A separate evening will be devoted to Paweł Szymański – a laureate of many composition competitions, who has already become a living legend of Polish contemporary music. To celebrate Paweł Mykietyn's 50th birthday, outstanding artists – Urszula Kryger, Ryszard Alzin, Meccore String Quartet and Triartet – will present his Shakespeare's Sonnets, ... though Dedalus reached ..., String Quartet No. 3 and 3 for 13. The programme will also include compositions by Igor Stravinsky – a Russian composer with Polish roots, whose 50th death anniversary falls this year. To highlight the "contrasts" indicated in the Festival's title, the works of contemporary composers will be juxtaposed with the music of e.g. composers of Viennese Classic School.

The sixth edition of the Festival will focus on Polish music. The programme of almost every scheduled concert include the names of Polish composers. Will will hear, among others, the repertoire of the legendary Music Workshop Ensemble of Zygmunt Krauze and its continuator, the Nonstrom ensemble (though under a different name, as it is composed of new musicians). The final concert will feature the first performance of Ryszard Alzin's chamber opera Report on the State of the Planet. Traditionally, each concert will be followed by a discussion panel with the artists.

The Festival programme will also include a concert entitled "Trampolina Młodych" (Springboard for the Youth) – the best opportunity to listen to the emerging stars of classical music of the young generation.
