California | Hashtag Ensemble plays Rafał Zapała

zHashtag Ensemble will present participatory works by Rafał Zapała as part of his Fulbright residency at CNMAT, UC Berkeley: on 17 November 2021 at 8.00 p.m. at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies at the University of California (Berkeley) and on 19 November 2021 at 7.30 p.m. at the Stanford University Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics.

The concerts will focus on artistic theory surrounding new open forms of music intermediated by technological tools. These forms are explored in the context of written scores and live chamber music performance. The programme includes four participatory works involving the listeners, sometimes through physical interaction, sometimes with mobile consoles prepared for the pieces: Judge Me Again (2020, version for flute and l.elx), Futility (2020), Scrolling to Zero (2018, version for synthesizers). The concert will also feature a new work titled Introverts’ Collective which was created during Rafał Zapała's residency.

The events are co-financed by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

The concerts are free and open for in-person attendance. They will be live streamed and made available on YouTube channels of both institutes.
