KrauzeOn 16 December 2021 at 7.30 p.m. the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio will host a concert to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Zygmunt Krauze's work. The event is organised by the Kwadrofonik Association.

Zygmunt Krauze's compositions will be performed by Lutosławski Piano Duo (Emilia Karolina Sitarz and Bartek Wąsik) and Silesian Quartet (Szymon Krzeszowiec, Arkadiusz Kubica, Łukasz Syrnicki, Piotr Janosik). We will also hear works by Tomasz Sikorski and Claude Debussy

The highlight of the programme will be the premiere of Zygmunt Krauze's new piece Threnody in memory of Krzysztof Penderecki, created especially for this event. As described by the composer: “The idea arose spontaneously right after the tragic news of the Master's death. The planned composition is to express the energy, strength and determination that formed the basis of Penderecki's work. At the same time, it expresses the pain after losing a great composer. It is a work consisting of five segments, referring to the ancient Greek literary form: exordium, laudatio, comploratio, consolatio and exhortatio.Threnody in memory of Krzysztof Penderecki will not contain any stylistic allusions to his work. It is conveyed in my personal musical language with a strong emotional character”.

The concert is co-organised by Polish Radio Channel 2, which will broadcast the event. The partner is PWM Edition.

Admission free! Co-financed by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Music" programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
