Białystok | 3rd National Scientific and Artistic Conference ‘Choral Music – Achievements, Perspectives. Choral music of the 20th and 21st centuries’.

On the 28th of April 2022 the Chairs of Choir Studies and Artistic Education of the Instrumental and Pedagogy Department and Artistic Education and Vocal Studies of the branch of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Bialystok will organize the 3rd National Scientific and Artistic Conference ‘Choral Music – Achievements, Perspectives. Choral music of the 20th and 21st centuries’.

Choirmasters and composers will discuss the specific aspects of contemporary choral music. The invitation was accepted by speakers from Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Katowice, Łódź, Warsaw and Białystok. The subject of the conference focuses primarily on the cognitive values ​​of current trends in choral music, compositional intentions and confronts them with practice in a choir ensemble, as well as on own research in the field of contemporary choral music.

At the end of the conference a concert entitled ‘Choral Academy in tribute to Pope John Paul II’ in the church of st. Casimir the Prince in Białystok will take place. 25 choirs from the Podlasie region and the Warmia-Masuria region of the project "Choral Academy - Singing Poland" conducted by Anna Olszewska will take part in the concert. The programme includes the premiere of a series of pieces composed by Ernest Kamil Sienkiewicz to the words written by Michał Wojnarowski Let’s open the door.
