Lublin | 'Polish Music Scene': Boarte Piano Trio

ScenaMuzyki 17.2.23

The Boarte Piano Trio, as part of the ‘Polish Music Scene’ programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance, will perform on the 17th of February, 2023 at 19.10 at the Philharmonic of Henryk Wieniawski in Lublin little-known works by Andrzej Panufnik and Grzegorz Fitelberg.

Panufnik's Piano Trio opens the catalog of his oeuvre (Op. 1). The work was written in 1934 and had its premiere in 1936. All of Andrzej Panufnik's scores written before 1944 were burnt during the Warsaw Uprising. Fortunately, Panufnik managed to reconstruct a few pieces. The composer's juvenile piece consists of three parts: an extended sonata allegro, the lyrical second movement, and a dance scherzo.

Thanks to the Boarte Piano Trio, we will also have the opportunity to hear the Piano Trio in F minor, Op. 10 by Fitelberg (1901). It is a very complex work, with dramatic lyricism, theatrical mood, rich harmony and extensive melodics.
