Warsaw | Noskowski. Concert with Maestro Antoni Wit

An important element of the mission of the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra is the restitution of forgotten masterpieces of Polish music in concert practice, and the concert on the 30th of July, 2022 at 19.00 conducted by Antoni Wit at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw will be an important step in bringing back Zygmunt Noskowski to his rightful place among the outstanding Polish and European composers of the second half of the 19th century.

At the beginning of the 21st  century, the music of Zygmunt Noskowski slowly began to return to concert stages, and the first editions of his previously unpublished works, such as String Quartets No. 2 and 3, and Symphony No. 2, also appeared.

Katowice | Music marathon on the 90th birthday of Wojciech Kilar

POLMICMedia patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

On the 17th of July it will be 90 years since the birth of the most famous composer associated with Katowice – Wojciech Kilar.

On Saturday, the 16th of July, composer’s music will be performed by Silesian artists in four parts of the city. Performers will be the Brass Quintet of NOSPR, the Silesian Chamber Musicians Quintet, the Choir of the Academic Music Group of the Silesian University of Technology and the ensemble of musicians from the Archetti Chamber Orchestra. We will meet musicians at the Katowice Market Square, the stairs of the Cathedral and in the amphitheater in the Culture Zone. A concert in the garden of Kilar’s villa at Kościuszko Street will be a unique attraction. After the composer’s death, the house was taken over by the city and it is now the Kilar House Music Education Center. The opportunity to enter the composer’s garden will be the first and most likely one of the last to see the site before construction work begins.

From morning to afternoon, film, chamber and religious music by Kilar will be performed at open concerts.

It will be a musical journey in the footsteps of Wojciech Kilar in Katowice. The places are symbolic and remind us of the composer’s ties with the city, but at the same time emphasize the richness of his work. That is why, for example, on the stairs of the Cathedral his choral religious works will be played, and a concert at the seat of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra will remind us that Wojciech Kilar was the great ambassador of the creation of this hall, which today is located at 1 Kilar Square – says Łukasz Kałębasiak from the Katowice City of Gardens institution, the event organizer.

The program has been arranged so that anyone who wants to can take part in all four concerts, because the artists will perform the program twice in each place. The film supplement to the musical marathon will be the evening show of „Dracula” dir. Francis Ford Coppola. We will also watch the painting with Kilar’s unforgettable music without tickets in the garden of the Doors Called Horse club at Warszawska Street. Admission to all events is free (limited number of seats in the garden of Kilar’s house).
