Warsaw | Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra and the winner of the Young Musician of the Year 2022 Competition

On the 4th of June 2022 at 7.00 p.m. the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra conducted by Marek Wroniszewski and Emilia Głombica will perform. The winner of the Young Musician of the Year 2022 Competition, violinist Milena Pioruńska, who will represent Poland at the 20th Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians in Montpellier, France, will perform the Antonín Dvořák Violin Concerto, Op. 53.

Milena Pioruńska is a student of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Secondary Music School in Poznań and is already proud of her rich artistic achievements - as a soloist she has performed in over 150 concerts, also with orchestras.

The concert programme also includes Melody in A minor by Myrosław Skoryk and Symphony No. 4 by Ludwig van Beethoven.

2nd Composers' Competition for a choral piece to a text by a Polish female poet

POLMICThe Art'n'Voices Vocal Ensemble announces the 2nd edition of the Composers' Competition for a choral piece to a text by a Polish female poet, which will be held as part of the ArteFonie Festival. The deadline for submitting competition entries is the 20th of July, 2022.

The competition aims to popularize and develop choral literature intended for amateur choirs, therefore the subject of this year's edition is to write a piece for mixed choir in one of the two variants to choose from:

1. piece for mixed choir a cappella;
2. piece for mixed choir with piano accompaniment.

The texts for the competition composition should come from the works of Polish female poets, with particular emphasis on those of Maria Konopnicka.

Wroclaw | 13 Leo Festival 'Our neighbours and us'

The 13th Leo Festival will be held on June 2–5, 2022 at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław. The theme of this year's Festival – ‘Our neighbors and us’ - was chosen long before the outbreak of the absurd and brutal war in Ukraine. However, recent events make us ask a new question: what does neighborhood mean in our world?

The organizers invited the female representation of the Lviv National Symphony Orchestra, which will present the music of Ukrainian composers, to participate in the first concert of the Leo Festival,devoted to Ukrainian musicians and the music of this nation. Together with the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra the artists will perform Serenade for double string orchestra Op. 10 by Gottfried von Einem.

Będzin, Tarnowskie Góry | Music by weight

The Music Society of Silesian Chamber Musicians invites you to a series of concerts 'Music by Weight', which will take place on June 19 - August 18, 2022 in Będzin and Tarnowskie Góry. Plastic caps are the key to all events of this artistic eco-project - they constitute an admission ticket.

The concerts will take place at the Mieroszewski Palace in Będzin and the Palace in Rybna. Upon the admission to the concert the ‘tickets’ (caps) will be collected and handed over to the city's ‘heart-baskets’. The concert repertoire was planned in such a way that whole families could participate in the event: the programme includes Polish contemporary music (among other works by Wojciech Kilar, Henryk Kuźniak, Dariusz Zboch), a music fairy tale, masterpieces of classical music, tango, Neapolitan songs and music from such films as Mission, Cinema Paradiso, Promised Land, Vabank.

Warsaw | Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra: Noskowski, Karłowicz, Skoryk, Smetana

On the 28th of May 2022 at 7.00 p.m. in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra conducted by Anna Sułkowska-Migoń will perform the Overture ‘Morskie Oko’ by Zygmunt Noskowski, Violin Concerto in A major by Mieczysław Karłowicz, three symphonic poems from the cycle Má vlast by Bedřich Smetana and Melody in A minor by Myrosław Skoryk.

The performer of the violin Concerto in A major by Karłowicz will be Małgorzata Wasiucionek, a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the class of prof. Roman Lasocki. She also studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in the class of prof. Pierre Amoyal. Winner of many international competitions, in 2017 she received a doctorate in musical arts, and a year later became an assistant professor at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music.

Anna Sułkowska-Migoń, who conducts the concert, works with the Orchestra as part of the ‘Conductor-Resident’ programme.

Katowice | New Music Orchestra: Ornithology, Insectology, Hydrology

Stories about the natural world: about insects, birds and the water world will be a part of a family concert at the premises of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra on the 29th of May at 4 p.m. The composers will offer the audience an unusual game of imagination - playing with sound, text, colours, melodies and instruments. The pieces will be presented by the New Music Orchestra conducted by Filip Huget. The soloist will be the singer Joanna Freszel.

At the concert Children's songs by Joanna Szymala to the words of Maria Konopnicka, Ornithology by Jarosław Siwiński to the text of Małgorzata Kołcz, Insectology by Anna Maria Huszcza and Hydrology by Adrian Robak, written to the words of Maja Baczyńska will be performed.

Katowice | Camerata Silesia in NOSPR: Chłopecki in memoriam

On the 28th of May 2022 at 6 p.m. Camerata Silesia will perform at the premises of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra at a concert dedicated to the memory of Andrzej Chłopecki (1950–2012) on the 10th anniversary of his death.

Andrzej Chłopecki was one of the most prominent Polish music critics. His volatile mind and writing style (often very sharp!) are a model for successive generations of reviewers.

Works by Krzysztof Penderecki, Stanisław Krupowicz, Paweł Mykietyn and Aleksander Nowak will be performed at the concert which will end with Paweł Szymański's Phylakterion.

Gdańsk | Final Concert of the Composers' Competition ‘Duet with Harp'

POLMICThe Department of Composition and the Department of Organ, Harpsichord, Accordion, Guitar and Harp of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk invites you to the Final Concert of the Composers' Competition ‘Duet with Harp' which will take place on the 23rd of May 2022 at 6.00 p.m. in the Senate Hall in the red building of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

The subject of the Competition for students of composition classes at Polish music academies was a 4-6 minute long piece for an instrumental duo with harp. 16 compositions were submitted to the Competition. The Competition Jury awarded 5 prizes and 1 honourable mention.

The winning compositions by Anna Stolarczyk, Piotr Kasiłowski, Szymon Kusior and Magdalena Białecka will be performed by students of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

Mińsk Mazowiecki | Concert on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the City of Mińsk Mazowiecki

Concert on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the City of Mińsk Mazowiecki will take place on the 29th of May 2022 at 6 pm on the premises of Zespół Szkół nr 1 im. Kazimierza Wielkiego in Mińsk Mazowiecki.

The city of Mińsk Mazowiecki invites you to the open-air event of the year, the oratorio and symphonic concert with the participation of the world famous mezzosoprano Małgorzata Walewska. The concert is the final event of the 600th anniversary of granting municipal rights to the city of Mińsk Mazowiecki.

The programme of the concert includes three works by Grzegorz Duchnowski, commissioned by the Museum of the Mińsk Land and will be performed by Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Anna Duczmal-Mróz and Choirs of the Warsaw University of Technology and Tibi Domine.

The soloists will be Małgorzata Walewska, Anna Mikołajczyk (sopranos), Aneta Łukaszewicz (mezzosoprano), Tomasz Raff and Patryk Rymanowski (basses).

The project is co-financed by the Self-government of the Mazovian Voivodeship.

Duszniki Zdrój, Cracow, Poznań, Berlin | The concert series ‘Panufnik, Twardowski, Górecki - masterpieces of Polish chamber music of the 20th century’

The concert series ‘Panufnik, Twardowski, Górecki - masterpieces of Polish chamber music of the 20th century’ performed by Apeiron Trio will take place in Duszniki Zdrój, Kraków, Poznań and Berlin between the 28th of May and 13th of June 2022.

The aim of the project is to present the masterpieces of Polish chamber music of the 20th century, works for piano trio in particular. During the events in Poland and abroad the music of Andrzej and Roxanna Panufnik, Romuald Twardowski and Mikołaj Piotr Górecki will be presented. The concerts will take place at Chopin's Manor in Duszniki Zdrój (28 May), in Białoprądnicki Manor in Kraków (30 May), in the auditorium of the Tadeusz Szeligowski in Poznań (June 9) and at the Piano Salon Christophori in Berlin.

Sopot | 18th Edition of the Mundus Cantat International Choir Festival

POLMICBetween the 21st and 29th of May 2022 the 18th edition of the Mundus Cantat International Choir Festival Sopot 2022 will take place. 13 choirs from all over the world, including Angola and the Philippines will take part in his year's edition. The guest of the festival will be last year's winner of the Sopot Mewa Award - ASBeek Choir. Admission to all concerts is free.

For the first time after a pandemic break, foreign bands will come to Sopot again - it will be possible to hear them live, not in a virtual version, as it has been for the last 2 years. The competition will include choirs from Angola, the Philippines, Latvia, nd representatives of Poland from Łódź, Gniew, Wejherowo, Przodków, Gdańsk and Gdynia. The participants will be judged by an international jury chaired by Prof. Beata Wróblewska from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

Accompanying concerts will be held as part of the festival: the music of Polish composers will be heard in Sopot churches, in the open air and in the Social Welfare Center in Sopot. The programme will also include two colorful and spectacular events.

Łańcut | 61st Łańcut Music Festival

POLMICPatronat medialny nad Festiwalem objęło Polskie Centrum Informacji Muzycznej POLMIC.

From the 21st of May to the 5th of June 2022, the Music Festival in Łańcut will take place. On the 2nd of June, as part of the Festival, a concert will be held in the concert hall of the Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów with the participation of artists from Ukraine.

On the 21st of May at the Podkarpacka Philharmonic, there will be a concert with the participation of the Argentine singer, composer and conductor José Cura, accompanied by the Croatian-Slovenian soprano, Martin Zadro. David Giménez will conduct the Symphony Orchestra of the Podkarpacka Philharmonic. The orchestra will also perform at the end of the Festival on the 5th of June. The Portuguese composer and multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo Leão, who will present his original film music, will conduct the orchestra.

14th 20th and 21st Centuries Music Competition for Young Performers 2022 online

The Polish Society for Contemporary Music announces the 14th 20th and 21st Centuries Music Competition for Young Performers 2022. The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Polish Composers' Union hold the Honorary Patronage of the event.

The competition is open to students from Poland (regardless of their citizenship) and Polish citizens studying abroad - students of second-level music schools and students of music universities (bachelor's, master's, doctoral, postgraduate studies).

The subject of the competition is music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Each piece must be composed by a different composer, including at least one Polish composer. Moreover, one of the pieces selected for performance must come from the PWM Edition catalogue.

The competition auditions will be held remotely only between October 9-15, 2022.
Applications should be sent only in electronic form (audio-video), via the WeTransfer service by the 1st of October, 2022.

Poznań | 51st Poznań Music Spring

The 51st edition of the Festival will be held in Poznań between May 26-29. During four festival days instrumentalists and singers from Poland and abroad will give ten concerts including composition from 20th century classics as well as newly composed pieces.

Works by Michele Abondano, Aron Ludwig, Sławomir Czarnecki, Jaromir Gajewski, Maciej Jabłoński, Zbigniew Kozub, Artur Kroschel, Janusz Stalmierski, Katarzyna Taborowska, Sarah Westwood, Agnieszka Zdrojek-Suchodolska and Katarzyna Kwiecień-Długosz will be premiered at the Festival. Festival events will also include Atelier – special piano concert devoted to the famous Poznań composer Andrzej Koszewski on the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Amalgalis Duo will also perform at the Festival.

Wrocław | „At first there was… noise“

During the concert of the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra at the National Forum of Music on the 21st of May 2022 at 7.00 p.m. Gidon Kremer, a violinist of Latvian origin will perform.

The musicians will perform works by Astor Piazzolla and Mieczysław Weinberg. The evening will begin with compositions by Ukrainian artists - Victoria Polova and Mykola Łeontowycz. The second part of the concert is devoted to the project ‘At first there was… noise’, realized in collaboration with Robert Wick. Works of Mieczysław Weinberg - one of the most intriguing composers of the last century – were used by Gidon Kremer in the project.
