The laureates of the 4th ATMA Polish National Competition for Musical Personalities will perform on 25 November at 7.30 p.m. in the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall in Katowice.

By the jury's decision, Paweł Wojciechowski, a 16-year-old pianist from Warsaw, became the winner of this year's, 4th edition of the ATMA Polish National Competition for Musical Personalities. He is a student of Joanna Ławrynowicz at the Zenon Brzewski Secondary Music School in Warsaw. The laureate of the Competition can not only enjoy financial prizes (PLN 5,000 and the Schimmel Pianos award – PLN 5,000), but above all he is honored with the opportunity to appear as a soloist with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra at its headquarters in Katowice. The other finalists also received the NOSPR Award of Ewa Bogusz-Moore – they will all perform at the headquarters of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice during chamber concerts.

The upcoming concert will feature Wojciech Niedziółka, Jakub Staszel and Jan Widlarz who will present a programme composed of works by Fryderyk Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski and Krzysztof Penderecki.

On 25-26  November 2019, the TO-ON Concert Hall In Tokyo will host a presentation of the pianist Marek Bracha's original project "heritance: radiating piano", co-financed by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

The project "heritance: radiating piano" explores the influence of traditional music in Polish and Japanese piano literature of the 19th and 20th centuries. The phenomenon of the transposition of traditional Polish dances (polonaise, mazurka) into classical music in the works of Fryderyk Chopin, Mieczysław Weinberg and Karol Szymanowski is analyzed comparatively with the stylization of the Bugaku dance, one of the genres of the traditional Gagaku style, in the work of the outstanding Japanese composer Yoritsune Matsudaira (1907–2001) .

The project will also feature a conference devoted to interpretation problems in Polish and Japanese piano literature, organised in cooperation with Tokyo Piano Teachers' National Associatiation. The lectures will be accompanied by a recital by pianist Marek Bracha, featuring works by Fryderyk Chopin, Tadeusz Kościuszko, Maria Szymanowska, Józef Wieniawski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Karol Szymanowski, Aleksander Tansman, Tadeusz Kassern, Władysław Szpilman, Mieczysław Weinberg, and Yoritsune Matsudaira. Marek Bracha will also lead master classes with the participation of young Japanese pianists aimed at familiarizing the idiom of Polish national dances and building long-term cooperation.

The project, organized by the "Sfera Harmonii" Foundation, is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the Multiannual Program NIEPODLEGŁA for 2017-2022, as part of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute's grant programme "Cultural bridges".

Program tego niezwykłego wieczoru wypełnią utwory Jubilata – Hymn do świętego Wojciecha oraz Credo, którymi zadyryguje sam profesor Penderecki oraz Maciej Tworek. Pośród wykonawców znajduje się ponadto I, CULTURE Orchestra oraz grono solistów – sopranistki Iwona Hossa i Karolina Sikora, Anna Lubańska (mezzosopran), tenor Adam Zdunikowski oraz Piotr Nowacki śpiewający basem.

Uroczystość praską poprzedzi jubileuszowy koncert w tym samym kształcie wykonawczym, jaki odbędzie się dokładnie w dniu urodzin profesora Pendereckiego, czyli w sobotę 23 listopada br. o godz. 19.00 w Europejskim Centrum Muzyki Krzysztofa Pendereckiego w Lusławicach. W programie Credo Jubilata.

The Silesian Philharmonic invites you to a Multimedia Organ Evening, which will take the audience to an unusual journey deep into the mechanism of the organs. The concert will take place on 24 November 2019 at 5 p.m., featuring two premieres.

Jan Bokszczanin, an excellent organist, interpreter and researcher of Russian and Soviet organ music literature, will present works by Dmitry Shostakovich, Sergei Rachmaninov, Sofia Gubajdulina, Georgi Muschel, Eduard Khagagortyan as well as premieres of new composistions by Jarosław Mamczarski and Aleksander Nowak. The organist will perform together with the Silesian Philharmonic Choir under the baton of Jarosław Wolanin. The programme will also include Aleksander Lasoń's Benedictus for mixed choir a cappella, the composer's only work for such ensemble.

The concert will take place as part of the 7th International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki "ReGenerations". The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund under the "Music" programme implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.

The New Music Orchestra will premiere the latest works by Polish composers during the concert on 24 November 2019 at 6 p.m. in the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall in Katowice.

Founded in 1996, the New Music Orchestra is the oldest Polish ensemble specialising in contemporary music performance, with intense activity now spanning over 20 years. Working first under the direction of the ensemble’s founder Aleksander Lasoń, and since 2006 under Artistic Director Szymon Bywalec, the OMN has gradually morphed from a group of enthusiastic students into a professional ensemble able to tackle the most complex scores. The orchestra premiered over 150 works at Polish and international festivals. Since 2014, the OMN runs its own concert cycle at the NOSPR orchestra seat in Katowice. 

The programme of the upcoming concert will include first performances of Marcin Rupociński's  Sensitivity for chamber orchestra and video, Mateusz Ryczek's Cello Concerto (‘Apparitions’), and Aleksander Lasoń's Metta. Sinfonia concertante No. 2 for bassethorn, bass clarinet and chamber orchestra. The works by Marcin Rupociński and Aleksander Lasoń were created as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance. The orchestra will be accompanied by outstanding soloists specializing in contemporary music performance: Roman Widaszek (basethorn), Jadwiga Czarkowska (bass clarinet) and Tomasz Skweres (cello).
