On April 29, 2018 at 6.00 p.m. the Warsaw Philharmonic will host a Charity Concert for Joanna Tic-Ramos. Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Paweł Kapuła will play along with talented flutist Marianna Żołnacz, Koryfeusz 2017 award winner.

Joanna Tic-Ramos is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the flute class of prof. Elżbieta Dastych-Szwarc. She also graduated from Early Music Studies in Warsaw. She is a two-time scholarship holder of the Austrian Cultural Forum and Austria Barock Akademie. From 2011 to 2013, she was the first flautist of the ULS Symphony Orchestra in La Serena (Chile). In 2013, Joanna Tic-Ramos and her family returned to Poland, where she taught at music schools and conducted educational concerts with the Little Philharmonic. In 2014, together with her husband, she founded Ensamble Insularoj to promote contemporary Latin American music.

In 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer with lymph node metastases. In November 2017, check-ups showed numerous bone metastases and local recurrence. Currently, Joanna is in the course of treatment with bisphosphonates, hormonal agents and is waiting for surgery of the ovaries along with the fallopian tubes. The treatment methods used are not very promising, but only inhibit the development of the disease. Joanna can not work professionally, she lives in Warsaw with her husband and two children aged 2 and 7. Joanna's husband, a pianist, works in two music schools. Determination that is shown every day in the fight against the disease, but also the awareness of how strongly it affects the lives of her husband and two children, inspired the musicians of the National Philharmonic Orchestra to take action to show support in this difficult situation.

OFN decided to organize a charity concert, during which funds for treatment and daily functioning of Joasia and her family will be collected. We invite you to participate in this extraordinary event, where the beauty of intangible art meets with human charity. The concert will feature: Overture for symphony orchestra by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Flute Concerto in D Minor Wq 22 by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Symphony No. 1 by Dimitri Shostakovich.

The organizers of the concert are the Association of Polish Artists – Musicians and the National Philharmonic. OFN artists would like to point out that all people involved in the preparation and organization of the concert do not receive any remuneration for this.

A symphonic concert on April 27, 2018 at the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic will be an opportunity not only to listen to works that rarely appear in philharmonic repertoires (including one Lodz pre-premiere), but also to celebrate the Bulgarian Presidency in the European Union.

Ahead of us is the Lodz pre-premiere of Maurycy Moszkowski's Piano Concerto in B minor, discovered a few years ago. This German-Polish-Jewish pianist (born in 1854 in Wrocław) composed several hundred virtuoso pieces for the piano. They were appreciated and played by well-known soloists, including Ignacy Jan Paderewski. Apart from Moszkowski's Etude, the most frequently performed is the Piano Concerto in E major, as it was believed, the only one. It turned out, however, that there is another concerto written earlier. Along with the Lodz Philharmonics, it will be presented by Bulgarian artists – pianist Ludmil Angelov, an excellent interpreter of works by Fryderyk Chopin, and conductor Vladimir Kiradjiev. 

During this concert, organized to celebrate the Bulgarian Presidency in the EU, the Bulgarian Suite by Pancho Vladigerova, related to the well-known Pasternak family, will also be performed The program of the concert will be completed by Polish melodies by Mieczysław Wajnberg, a Warsaw-born composer of Jewish origin, from 1939 residing in the USSR.

Pre-concert meeting at 6.15 p.m. will be lead by Piotr Matwiejczuk.

On April 27, 2018 at 7.00 p.m. Gorzów Philharmonic will organise a concert "Musical freeze-frame", which will feature music from the most famous Polish and foreign movies, as well as hits from iconic Polish tv series.The host of the evening will be Tomasz Stockinger.

Although film is primarily a visual medium, it cannot exist without music. It is music, as an integral part of movie, that reflects the experiences of heroes, evokes emotions, colors the mood, intensifies the action, in other words – co-createsn the atmosphere of agiven film, and in many cases determines its success. It happens that the music of the big screen or the silver screen gets more publicity than the film it was made for, and the song or main theme become timeless hits. Its success is also determined by great scores, arrangements and orchestral performances, thanks to which it does not deviate in any way from other genres of symphonic music and successfully finds its way to concert halls.

The program of the April concert will include works composed for the film as well as those which, although associated with the film, were created as independent works. We will hear, among others Cantabile by Krzesimir Dębski, In the old cinema by Władysław Szpilman, Nocturne in C sharp minor, Op. posth. by Fryderyk Chopin, Waltz by Waldemar Kazanecki from the movie Nights and Days, Tango by Mirosław Gąsieniec from the film Fears and Waltz by Wojciech Kilar from the film The Leper. The Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Stefan Gąsieniec – an excellent jazz pianist, composer and arranger.

The next concert from a series of master performances „SuperSam + 1”, organised by the „Mózg Foundation”, will take place on May 4, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the “Mózg Powszechny” club (20 Zamoyskiego St., Warsaw). The main performers will be Mark Feldman and Piotr Mełech.

Mark Feldman is a violinist and an active performer in the worlds of jazz, improvised music and 20th century contemporary music. Before moving to New York in 1986, Feldman lived in Nashville Tennessee where he was a member of the ensembles that accompanied country western singers. He played as a soloist with many orchestras such as Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra or the Symphony Orchestra of Eindhoven and made over 150 recordings as a soloist. He has played a lot with John Zorn, Joe Lovano, Billy Hart, Dave Douglas, Uri Cane and others. He was awarded the Alpert Prize in Music and he also received a Grammy certificate.

Piotr Mełech plays the clarinets and electronic media. He started learning to play on his own at the age of 23 inspired by John Zorn (Masada) and the phenomenon of yass music. He lived in the Netherlands for a few years, where he earned money to buy professional instruments by playing on the streets and drawing inspirations from The Ex. For a decade he was active in Poznań, where he co-founded Enterout Trio, Yazzbot Mazut, Tfaruk, Tsigunz Fanfara Avantura or Lentoid. For four years he has been living and working in Warsaw. He is an active member of Warsaw Improvisers Orchestra as well as Cukier, Melech, Śmierć i Łzy, Mełech/Mazurkiewicz/Trilla bands and duos with Marcin Albert Steczkowski, Wojtek Kurek, Qba Janicki and Vitaly Appow.

“Supersam + 1” is a series of master performances. The project focuses mainly on music, however, it also includes other forms of expression such as: performance, multimedia, monodrama. “SUPERSAM + 1” will present respected Polish and foreign artists whose work is original, experimental and innovative.

A concert from the cycle "Independent 2018. What's in my soul? – Polish Music" will take place on April 25, 2018 at the Polish Radio Katowice Concert Studio (29 Ligonia St.).

In the second concert of the series "Independent 2018. What's in my soul? Polish music", organized in Katowice by the Institution for the Promotion and Dissemination of Music "Silesia", we will hear string quartets of Polish composers in the interpretation of Messages Quartet. Members of the ensemble, which is nowadays perceived as one of the best Polish string quartets, are graduates of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and the Academy of Music in Krakow. During the April concert they will present: String Quartet No. 3 "On Polish folk themes" (1945) by Szymon Laks, String quartet No. 1 (c. 1839) by Stanisław Moniuszko and String quartet No. 2 "Messages" (1980) by Andrzej Panufnik, which title referrs to the name of the ensemble.
