Ruch Muzyczny 2002 nr 15

(21st July 2002)
The “cover story” of this issue is an interview with Grzegorz Michalski, director of the National Frederic Chopin Institute, much of which centres on the relations between this institution and the Frederic Chopin Society. The latter claims its rights to a vast proportion of the Chopin heritage. Michalski greets with satisfaction the statement made by Kazimierz Gierżod, president of the Frederic Chopin Society, that Chopin ought to unite, not divide, and expresses his hopes for effective co-operation between the two. Other highlights include the interview with Mirosław J. Błaszczyk, artistic director of the Silesian Philharmonic, and Rafał Augustyn’s interview with Heike Hoffmann, ex-director of Musik-Biennale Berlin. As for curiosities, there is a court decree binding two music school children to limit the amount of piano practice “in the interests of communal well-being” and Bogusław Madey’s statement that “he had known only two Polish reviewers who were honest and objective [...] unfortunately, they are now dead”.
