The premiere of a new composition for marimba, audio-playback and video by the composer Monika Dalach and marimba player Ewelina Hajda Kobiety są | Women are, which was created as part of the Artistic Scholarship of the Mayor of Łódź, Hanna Zdanowska, will be held online on 20 December 2021 on Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo.

The project concerning perception of a woman’s life draws from the Women of the City of Łódź. Through various art mediums, the artists have created a real, unmanipulated statement about how women perceive themselves and the sourrounding world. More than 20 Łódź residents of all ages were invited to participate in the project: they shared their point of view and life experience, talking about feelings, perception of themselves and their bodies and about the life of women in Poland in the 21st century.

This new multimedia composition is characterized by the search for new sounds and acoustic possibilities of marimba. The acoustic material is extended by electronic and video layers and supplemented by body mapping.

The project is carried out as part of the Mayor of Łódź Artistic Scholarship 2021 and with the support of Adams Percussion.

On 20 December 2021 at 7.30 p.m. the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra will host a concert of the winners of the 4th and 5th ATMA Polish Competition for Musical Personalities.

The aim of the Competition is to select outstandingly talented young instrumentalists (pianists, guitarists, violinists, violists and cellists) and to support their further artistic development. Freedom in the selection of the programme, limited only by the time frame, gives musicians a chance to present an interesting repertoire, consistent with their personality. The jury selects four finalists based on audio-video recordings sent to the first stage. The competition is open to students of all types of music schools in Poland, as well as those studying music outside the school system. The finalists of the 4th and 5th editions of the Competition were awarded a special prize – Ewa Bogusz-Moore, director of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, invited them to perform a concert at the Orchestra's concert hall.

Paweł Wojciechowski, Hanna Pozorska and Michał Francuz will present a programme composerd of Fryderyk Chopin's Scherzo in E major, Op. 54, Karol Szymanowski's The Spring of Arethusa from the Myths series for violin and piano, Op. 30 as well as works by Franz Liszt and Maurice Ravel.

The New Music Orchestra under the baton of Maciej Koczur will premiere works by Paweł Hendrich, Dariusz Przybylski and Dobromiła Jaskot on 19 December 2021 at 6.00 p.m. at the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Chamber Hall.

The concert was prepared by Filip Huget, who is the resident conductor of the Orchestra in the 2021/2022 season. Filip Huget studied conducting at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice and currently continues his education at the Department of Conducting of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He received an honourable mention at the Polish Competition for Students of Conducting in 2020.

The musicians will premiere Dariusz Przybylski's Chamber Symphony, Dobromiła Jaskot Magammahm and Paweł Hendrich's Piano Concerto 'Phantomaticon' with Ignacy Lisiecki as the soloist.

The concert is co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of its own program "Conductor-in-residence", financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The Prize Winners' Concert of the 2nd International Competition of Polish Music, organised by the National Institute of Music and Dance, will premiere on TVP Kultura on 19 December 2021 at 3.50 p.m.

Masterpieces of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Grażyna Bacewicz, Ludomir Różycki, Wojciech Kilar, Witold Lutosławski, Roman Maciejewski and Miłosz Magin will be performed by excellent pianists and chamber ensembles: Carter Johnson, Ivan Shemchuk, Michał Szymanowski, Książek Piano Duo (Agnieszka Zahaczewska-Książek and Krzysztof Książek), Kwintofonia and Aleksandra Kuls and Marcin Koziak duo.

This year's edition of the Competition was attended by 86 musicians from three continents who competed for a total prize pool of 80,000 EUR in two categories: pianists and chamber ensembles. The participants competed in September on the stage of the Artur Malawski Subcarphatian Philharmonic in Rzeszów.

The competition is organised by the National Institute of Music and Dance in cooperation with the Artur Malawski Subcarphatian Philharmonic in Rzeszów and is funded by the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The event's partner is the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The competition is held under the National Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. The Competition is a member of the Alink-Argerich Foundation’s piano competitions network.

The oratorio concert "Silent Night" will introduce us to the atmosphere of the upcoming Christmas. On 17 December 2021 at 7.00 p.m. Sabrina Stachel will conduct for the first time the Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra and the Choir of the Maritime University in Szczecin in the frame of the "Conductor-in-residence" programme of the National Institute of Music and Dance.

The concert will begin with Camille Saint-Saëns' Christmas Oratorio, which will be perfectly complemented by Silent Night – a concert of Christmas carols for choir and string orchestra arranged by Maciej Małecki.

The magical story of Christmas Eve according to Saint-Saëns was premiered in 1858 at the St. Magdalene Church in Paris during the Midnight Mass. Christman Oratorio is a ten-part piece for five solo voices, choir, string quintet, organ and harp. Thanks to gentle and simple harmonies, the vocal and orchestral parts create an intimate atmosphere.

In 2006 Jan Łukaszewski, director of the Polish Chamber Choir, inspired Maciej Małecki to make his own arrangement of selected Christmas carols. This is how Silent Night was created – an original composition that preserves the spirit of tradition and beautiful Polish Christmas songs. Anna Fabrello, Małgorzata Pańko-Edery, Jadwiga Postrożna, Przemysław Borys and Jerzy Butryn will perform as soloists.
