Zielona Góra | 'Composers' Commissions' symphonic concert

POLMICMedia patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC.

On the 7th of October, 2022 at 7.00 p.m. at the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, the premiere of Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska's Suite for trombone quartet and symphony orchestra, which was created as part of the ‘Composers’ Commissions’ programme of the National Institute of Music and Dance, will take place.

The composer gave the Suite the subtitle Kazimierz Serocki in memoriam: the piece will be a tribute to Kazimierz Serocki. The work contains a number of interesting performance techniques, the aim of which is to emphasize the equal importance of the solo and orchestral parts. The four-part composition also includes references to popular music, which was often a great inspiration for Serocki.

The piece will be performed by the Zielona Góra Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and the TrombQuartet conducted by Henry Kennedy. We will also hear works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert.

Poznań | ‘Little Poznań Music Spring’

Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

polmicBetween the 6th and 13th of October, 2022, as part of the 51st  International Festival of Contemporary Music ‘Poznań Music Spring’, the ‘Little Poznań Music Spring’ will take place. The programme will include concerts, workshops and meetings with artists in Piła and Ostrów Wielkopolski.

The Little Poznań Music Spring is a series of events addressed to younger audiences - youth from music schools. The ‘Poznań Music Spring’ festival itself takes place in the heart of Greater Poland and younger listeners, especially those from smaller centers outside of Poznań, might find it harder to take part in concerts and meetings organized as part of the Festival. That is why the ‘Poznań Music Spring’ not so much invites, but becomes itself a guest of its listeners...

In the 51st edition, students of music schools from the Fryderyk Chopin Zespół Szkół Muzycznych in Piła and the Music School Complex of K. Komedy-Trzcinskiego in Ostrów Wielkopolski will take part in the concerts, workshops and meetings with artists.

Warsaw | 'The last recital': concert of Zygmunt Krauze

polmic

'The Last Recital' is a summary of Zygmunt Krauze's 60 years of piano experience. This applies both to the repertoire - mainly 20th-century music, and to the manner of performance, which combines accuracy with the score, improvisations and theatrical elements. The concert will take place in Nowy Teatr on the 4th of October, 2022 at 19.00.

The recital programme includes masterpieces of 20th century music and the most famous bits of the classics. It is a collage of piano literature from Bach until today, performed without interruptions, creating surprising contrasts, showing classics improvised along with theatrical elements.

We will hear compositions by Stockhausen, Messiaen, Cowell, Andriessen, Webern, Satie, Feldman, Lutosławski. There are also interludes in which the pianist performs excerpts of works and improvises on themes of Chopin, Beethoven, Haydn and Brahms. Each time, "The Last Recital" sounds different, depending on the spontaneous decisions of the pianist who, apart from playing the keyboard, uses gestures, vocal and theatrical effects and piano preparations.
