Tauron Eko Koncert will be held online on 26 March 2021 at 7.00 p.m. on the Silesian Philharmonic YouTube channel. We will be able to listen to Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt suites and celebrate Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki on the eve of his first death anniversary. The programme will include his Three Pieces in Old Style and Mikołaj Piotr Górecki's Prelude dedicated to the memory of the composer.

A live broadcast with the participation of the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Yaroslav Shemet will begin with Mikołaj Piotr Górecki's Prelude – the first part of the Suite created together with internet users during the first lockdown, dedicated to Krzysztof Penderecki, who died on 29 March 2020. In tribute to the composer, we will also hear his Three Pieces in Old Style, originally composed as film music. The cycle begins with the beautiful lyrical Aria, imitating the baroque style. It replaced the verbal commentary in the documentary Passacaglia to the Sigismund Chapel (1966), and its vocal arrangement can be heard in Je t'aime, je t'aime by Alain Resnais (1968). Two Minuets (parts II and III) were written two years earlier for Wojciech Jerzy Has' The Manuscript Found in Saragossa (1964).

The concert finale will feature two suites by Edvard Grieg (Op. 46 and 55) from the music to Henrik Ibsen's drama Peer Gynt, which tells the story of the selfish Peer Gynt underestimating Solveig, who is sincerely in love with him.

Department of String Instruments of the G. and K. Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź invites cello students from Polish music academies to the 1st Polish National Dominik Połoński Cello Competition, which will be held remotely based on the sent recordings on 26-28 March 2021.

The competition is dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Polish cellist Dominik Połoński, who was associated with the Łódź Music Academy. He was awarded with the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture "Gloria Artis", the "Polityka's" Passport, the Polish Academy of Sciences Award, the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Award and the Eureka Award for outstanding achievements in the field of culture. The idea of ​​the competition is to promote talented instrumentalists of the young generation, who, like Dominik Połoński, are distinguished by outstanding charisma and musical intuition, natural sharpness in interpretation and high skill in playing the cello.

The organisers invited cello students from Polish music academies to participate in the competition. The programme of the competition will consist of 30-minute recitals, composed of freely selected pieces for solo cello or cello with piano accompaniment. The winner of the main prize will be awarded the title of "Cello Individuality 2021". Playback of the uploaded recordings will be possible only on 26-28 March through the link posted on the Academy's website in the competition programme section, next to each Candidate's name. The jury will delibarate at the Academy of Music in Łódź.

The competition will be inaugurated by a concert dedicated to the memory of Dominik Połoński, performed by students and graduates from the class of the deceased cellist. Official competition events will be preceded by the Polish National Scientific and Artistic Conference "Cello – The Past and The Present" with two lecture panels and a meeting "Memories of Dominik Połoński" with the participation of Izabela Połońska and the artist's friends. The course of the events will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Academy of Music in Łódź.

The Youth Circle of the Polish Composers' Union in cooperation with the Russian Young Composers' Union MOLOT invites composers and musicologists to participate in an international series of seminars devoted to contemporary music. The seminars will be held the ZOOM application on 24-27 March 2021.

This project is yet another result of the collaboration between the community of young Polish composers and the community of young East European composers; it is an opportunity to promote their creative and scientific activities, as well as to establish valuable international contacts.

The programme includes lectures by such composers and musicologists as Dariusz Przybylski, Jan Krutul, Krzystof Kicior, Aleksandra Chmielewska, Aleksander Jan Szopa, Krzystof Ratajski (Poland), Yaroslaw Sudzilowski, Artur Zobnin, Vadim Genin, Evgeny Prituzhalov, Nikifor Yakovlev (Russia), Snejana Pislari (Moldova), Lizaveta Loban (Belarus), Andrei Yakushau (Belarus – Poland).

24 March marks the Polish National Day of Remembrance of Poles Rescuing Jews under German occupation. On this occasion, the Artur Malawski Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów invites you at 7.00 p.m. to a concert as part of the 6th Psalms of David Festival "Honoring the Righteous and the Survivors".

The main goal of the Psalms of David Festival is, above all, to show pride in Poles who did not hesitate to risk their own lives to protect the lives of others, an unquestionable example of which is the testimony of the Ulma Family from Markowa. The idea of ​​the festival is to create unity, peace and a dimension of deep understanding between the Jewish and Christian worlds. On the level of biblical psalms, which constitute the foundation of Jewish and Christian prayer, efforts are being made to present and convey this dimension of sensitivity that allows Jews to thank God for saving their lives, and Poles for the gift of courage in saving these lifes.

In 2021, the SOAR Ulma Family Foundation invites you to a live streamed concert in honor of the Polish Righteous Among the Nations, which will consist of a Polish and Jewish part. The first one wil premiere Michał Jurkiewicz's oratorio The Psalms of Love and Hope to words by Jerzy Łysiński. The piece will be performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Podkarpacka Philharmonic, choir and soloists (Andrzej Lampert, Barbara Gąsienica-Giewont, Joanna Słowińska, Stanisław Plewniak, Dariusz Malejonek, Symcha Keller, Łukasz Lipski, Agata Galik) conducted by Nikola Kołodziejczyk.

Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne ogłasza 18. Konkurs Kompozytorski im. Tadeusza Ochlewskiego na solową miniaturę o charakterze wirtuozowskim inspirowaną twórczością Fryderyka Chopina z opcjonalną warstwą elektroniczną. Termin nadsyłania prac upływa 22 września 2021 roku.

W nawiązaniu do tegorocznego 18. Międzynarodowego Konkursu Pianistycznego im. Fryderyka Chopina – jednego z najważniejszych wydarzeń muzycznego świata – Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne zachęca młodych kompozytorów do sięgania do wzorców chopinowskich. W tegorocznej edycji temat Konkursu nie ogranicza wyboru instrumentu.

Udział w Konkursie mogą wziąć kompozytorzy mający obywatelstwo polskie: osoby pełnoletnie, które do dnia 22 września 2021 roku nie ukończą 30. roku życia.

Oceny utworów oraz wyboru zwycięskiej kompozycji dokona Jury w składzie: Krzysztof Knittel, Sławomir Kupczak, Stanisław Leszczyński, Marta Ptaszyńska oraz Daniel Cichy.

Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne przewiduje wyłonienie jednej zwycięskiej kompozycji. Nagrodami w Konkursie są:

• nagroda pieniężna w wysokości 10 000 zł,
• wydanie drukiem przez Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne wyłonionej przez Jury kompozycji i włączenie utworu do katalogu PWM
• publiczne wykonanie nagrodzonej kompozycji.
