On 18 September 2020 at the Silesian Philharmonic baritone Jarosław Bręk and the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yaroslav Shemet will premiere a new work by Zygmunt Krauze.

In Exordium for baritone and symphony orchestra Zygmunt Krauze, one of the most important artists of his generation, once again provokes a discussion on an important topic. This time, the composer combines fragments of the Preamble to the Constitution of the Republic of Poland with performative elements characteristic of his work. The piece was created as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme carried out by the Institute of Music and Dance.

The concert will also feature Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F major, known as the "Pastoral Symphony", and Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64.

The second concert in the series "Musical meetings with the poetry of John Paul II" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Pope's birth will be held on 18 September 2020 at 5.00 p.m. on the open-air stage of the Municipal Public Library in Mińsk Mazowiecki on Kiliński Square.

The concert series is organised by the 'Czas Sztuki' Foundation, which focuses its activities on organising free concerts in picturesque rural towns, in historical churches and cultural institutions in the Mińsk district in the Mrozy commune, where the Foundation is based. The members of the Foundation are musicians of The Time Quartet. The quartet is made up of graduates of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. During several years of artistic work, the ensemble has performed over 350 concerts in Poland and abroad, and has collaborated with many outstanding ensembles and artists, including Andrzej Jagodziński Trio, Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, Grzech Piotrowski World Orchestra, 'Mazowsze' Folk Song and Dance Ensemble and Trifonidis Downtown Sextet. The quartet's musicians are the founders of the Melanidis Orchestra studio orchestra, with which they recorded music for six Polish and foreign films.

During the upcoming concert we will hear selected poems by Pope John Paul II recited by the famous actor Aleksy Komorowski and compositions by Antonio Vivaldi, Claude Debussy and Camille Saint-Saens performed by The Time Quartet.

Concerts of forgotten works by Polish composers entitled "Lost Treasures" will take place in Lublin, Kazimierz Dolny and Radom on 18, 19 and 20 September 2020.

We will hear forgotten works by Polish composers, both well-known and those who are not remembered today. "Lost Treasures" is an international music project initiated by Joanna Okoń (violin), Anna Wróbel (cello) and Elena Zhukova (piano), which is an extension of the "Polish Landscapes" programme presented in 2018 and 2019, among others as part of the INVITATION Festival in New York at Carnegie Hall and at Shanghai East China Normal University. Joanna Okoń, the author of the project, recalls the memory of forgotten Polish composers of the second half of the 19th and 20th centuries and works that turned out to be true discoveries and forgotten gems of Polish chamber music.

The trio's concerts will take place at the Henryk Wieniawski Philharmonic in Lublin, in the Former Synagogue in Kazimierz Dolny and in the Concert Hall of the City Hall of Radom. The programme will feature works by Franz Godebski, Karol Kątski, Rachel Knobler, Feliks Nowowiejski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Ludomir Różycki, Marian Sawa, Karol Skarżyński, Antoni Stolpe, Paula Szalit, Henryk Waghalter and Mieczysław Weinberg.

The Bronisław Huberman Częstochowa Philharmonic will inaugurate its 76th artistic season on 18 September 2020. The concert will also mark the culmination of the 75th anniversary of the institution, which, due to the epidemic, could not take place on the original date of 20 March 2020.

The programme of the event will include works related to both the Philharmonic itself and the city of Częstochowa. We will hear Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 22 by Henryk Wieniawski, often performed and recorded on an album by the patron of the Philharmonic, Bronisław Huberman. The solo part will be played by Mariusz Patyra – an outstanding violinist hailed as the Polish Paganini. He will be accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Częstochowa Philharmonic conducted by Adam Klocek, who will debut at the Philharmonic as a composer with his new piece In Paradisum, written especially for the anniversary.

The evening will begin with the symphonic poem Orawa by Wojciech Kilar, who had a special fondness for Częstochowa, often emphasized during his visits to Jasna Góra. Performed by the Collegium Cantorum Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Częstochowa Philharmonic, as well as soloists – soprano Ewa Biegas and baritone Robert Gierlach, we will also hear the sublime Te Deum by Antonín Dvořák. The work will mark the solemn moment for the Philharmonic, as well as the city of Częstochowa.

The concert will be accompanied by a photo exhibition "20th-century concert posters of the Częstochowa Philharmonic."

The 5th edition of the "SuperSam + 1 series" of master performances will begin on 17 September 2020 at 8 p.m. at the SPATiF club in Warsaw.

"Super" in the title means that the programme will be based on renowned artists – masters. "Sam" (in Polish means "alone", "by himself/herself") refers to the solo performances as well as the creative loneliness. "+ 1" in the title means that each evening will be crowned with a duo performance. In most cases, the artists will meet on stage for the first time. The 2020 edition of “Supersam + 1” will present respected Polish and foreign artists whose work is original, experimental and innovative.

This year's series of concerts will be inaugurated by Magda Mayas and Jędrzej Łagodziński. Magda Mayas is a pianist, composer and performer based in Berlin. Over the past 20 years she has developed a music vocabulary usining amplified and prepared piano as well as objects that become extensions of the instrument itself. Mayas explores textural and linear sound collages. Saxophonist and composer Jędrzej Łagodziński is a graduated of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. He combines the wildness and rawness of improvisational exploration with melody and harmony. In 2016 he co-founded an independent label Love & Beauty Music. As an actor and musician he co-creates an avant-garde multidisciplinary project called Troubadours 21.
