Wrocław | Homo viator. Season inauguration of the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic

Concert inaugurating the NFM season of the Wrocław Philharmonic, on the 6th of October, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. will be led by the world-famous conductor Pinchas Steinberg. The programme includes Witold Lutosławski's Little Suite, Stanisław Skrowaczewski's Triple Concerto, and the four-part symphonic poem Aus Italien by Richard Strauss.

This year we are celebrating the hundredth anniversary of birth of Stanisław Skrowaczewski, a legendary Polish conductor, but also a composer, and the European premiere of his Triple Concerto for violin, clarinet, piano and orchestra will be a remider of this fact. This work, completed in 1991, was first performed in Honolulu and conducted by the composer.

Violinist Bartłomiej Nizioł, clarinetist Krzysztof Grzybowski and pianist Piotr Sałajczyk will perform as soloists.

Concert at the NOSPR premises on the 6th of October, 2023 at 7.30 p.m. is organized around events related to the 70th anniversary of death of Grzegorz Fitelberg, a composer who has been patron of the Orchestra's activities for years. We will hear his Symphony No. 1 in E minor, Op. 16 performed by NOSPR and conducted by Alexander Humala. Before the concert at 6 p.m. in the NOSPR chamber hall there will be a screening of the film ‘Fulfillment. Sketches for the portrait of Grzegorz Fitelberg’ (2007) directed by Czesław Janicki.

Grzegorz Fitelberg was eager to arrange music all his life, reaching for works by Stanisław Moniuszko, Mieczysław Karłowicz and Karol Szymanowski. This evening we will listen to one of such arrangements - Nocturne and Tarantella Op. 28 originally written by Karol Szymanowski for violin and piano.

The programme will also include Variations in B flat major on ‘Là ci darem la mano’ by Fryderyk Chopin and Little Suite by Witold Lutosławski. Pianist Jakub Kuszlik will perform as a soloist.

Bielsko-Biała | 26. H.M. Górecki Festival of Polish Composers: 'Wojciech Kilar. 2 x F: Filharmonia & film'

FestiwalKompozytorowP 23Wojciech Kilar’s music will be performed on the 26th H.M. Górecki Festival of Polish Composers in Bielsko-Biała, which will be held from the 5th to the 7th of October.

Performers will be: AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy conducted by Marek Moś with Piotr Sałajczyk as the pianist, Motion Trio, Leszek Możdżer and the Cracow Sinfonietta Cracovia conducted by Adam Sztaba. The concerts will feature Kilar’s classical works, such as Orava, Chorale Prelude, Ricordanza and Piano Concerto No. 2, as well as creative reinterpretations of his works and film music from Dracula and the Promised Land. The concerts will be held at the Bielsko Cultural Centre.

NFM 5 10 23Works by two great Polish composers - Grażyna Bacewicz and Witold Lutosławski, and the brilliant Octet in E flat major by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in the concert programme are a recipe for a wonderful evening filled with the beautiful sound of string instruments. On the 5th of October, 2023 at 7 p.m., eight extraordinary musicians will perform at the National Forum of Music.

They will perform Lutosławski's Silesian Melodies and Bacewicz Quartet, written for four violins. Music created with talented young people in mind will be combined with the String Octet by the sixteen-year-old Mendelssohn.

Wrocław | United in singing: concert of NFM choirs on the occasion of the International Music Day

The main idea of the concert of the NFM Choir, NFM Girls' Choir, NFM Boys' Choir and the ‘Rondo’ Vocal Ensemble on the 1st of October, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. is the unifying power of singing. Recognized artists under the direction of Lionel Sowa will present works by ten composers, including the world premieres of Viderunt omnes fines terrae by Paweł Łukaszewski and Gloria by Michał Ziółkowski.

The first, premiere work is Viderunt omnes fines terrae by Paweł Łukaszewski for women's choir and organ or piano, commissioned by the National Forum of Music. The title translates as ‘All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.’ The organ part in this piece will be performed by Tomasz Głuchowski. The artists will also perform the world premiere of Gloria by Michał Ziółkowski, intended for three mixed choirs and two children's choirs.

Opole | Organ at High Noon: inauguration of the organ concert cycle

3,526 pipes and 48 voices - the full sound of the VEB Frankfurter Orgelbau Sauer philharmonic organ will be presented by recognized organists from Poland and around the world during nine Sunday concerts at the Opole Philharmonic ‘Organ at High Noon’. Each recital will be preceded by a short mapping projection with the organ playing the main role. First concert - recital by Dr. Adam Tański - will take place on International Music Day – the 1st of October, 2023 at 12.00.

During the first recital, Adam Tański will perform works by Franz Liszt, Robert Schumann, Edward Grieg, Jan Sibelius and his own compositions.

Katowice | 'Senior Weekend with Culture': big choirs

Concert on the 1st of October at the Silesian Philharmonic 5:00 p.m. on the occasion of the International Music Day is part of the nationwide ‘Senior Weekend with Culture’ campaign. The Philharmonic Choir, conducted by Jarosław Wolanin, and pianist Adam Eibin will perform arrangements of Fryderyk Chopin's works.

Well-known mazurkas, etudes, songs, waltzes and preludes will be performed in Adam Eibin's arrangements for a cappella choir and choir with piano accompaniment. It will be a concert full of beautiful music, timelessly delightful melodies and an opportunity to immerse yourself in unusual arrangements that will allow you to find new colors in famous themes.

We will also hear Aprèslude – Chopin-Meditationen nach den Preludes, Op. 28 by Heinrich Poos.

5th Polish Music Day

DzienPolskiejMuzyki 23On the 1st October, 2023, we will celebrate Polish Music Day for the fifth time. This is a social campaign that promotes Polish music and increases Poles' awareness of the importance of music for the development of Polish culture and economy. The campaign supports the domestic music market and emphasizes the role of music in the lives of each of us.

The message of the campaign is cooperation: ‘Music connects EVERYONE.’ The more Polish music we listen to, the greater opportunities for artistic and export development we create for our favorite artists, and the stronger the position of the Polish market on the international arena becomes.

Organ morning, meetings with organists, screening of a film about Grzegorz Fitelberg and the opening of an exhibition dedicated to him, as well as a jazz concert - this is the programme of the International Music Day at NOSPR on the 1st of October, 2023!

The international music festival will start in Katowice at 10.30. The soloist of organ concerts entitled ‘Through the 19th and 20th centuries with the organ’ will be Prof. Elżbieta Karolak. The artist proposed a programme that is intended to present the richness of Polish organ literature: works by Augustyn Bloch, Mieczysław Surzyński (one of the most outstanding representatives of Polish organ music of the romantic era), Jospeh Kromlicki, Aleksander Tansman and Feliks Nowowiejski, who is said to be the greatest in the field of organs.
