Rzeszów | 52. Musicological Conference of the Polish Composers' Union 'Polish Music. Tradition and Modernity’

Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

KonferencjaZKP 23On September 7-9, 2023 at the Institute of Music of the Department of Humanities of the University of Rzeszów and at the Zygmunt Mycielski State Primary Music School in Strzyżów the 52nd Musicological Conference of the Polish Composers' Union ‘Polish Music. Tradition and Modernity’ will take place.

The aim of the conference is to look again at the Polish music tradition. To what extent are we still moved by the term ‘Polish music’ today and how do we treat native music? What is Polish music and how do we understand it today? These questions may be a starting point for a discussion on Polish music seen in a broad perspective, including, among others, compositional creativity, performance, reception, as well as aesthetic and methodological reflection.

The conference will be attended by Polish musicologists and invited guests: Bernadeta Czapraga (Universität Mozarteum Salzburg), Luba Kijanowska-Kamińska (Lviv National Music Academy named after Mykola Lysenko), Semith Cevallos (Federal University of Paraná State, Brazil) and John Mackenzie Pierce (University of Michigan).

During the conference, diplomas will be awarded to this year's winners of the Fr. Prof. Hieronim Feicht award.
