Polish soprano Halina Łukomska died at the age of 87 on August 30, 2016.

The artist studied singing with Stanisława Zawadzka and Maria Halfterowa at the Higher State Music School in Warsaw, where she received her diploma in 1954. She continued her studies with Giorgio Favaretto in Siena (1958) and Toti Dal Monte in Venice (1959-60). In 1956, she won the 1st prize at the International Vocal Competition in Hertogenbosch.

In 1960, Halina Łukomska began her international career, giving concerts at festivals in Edinburgh, Perugia, Vienna, Warsaw, Toulouse, and many other places, and performing with major orchestras around the world. The singer made several recordings for Philips, Columbia, EMI, Polskie Nagrania, and Harmonia Mundi labels. She became known as a great interpreter of contemporary music and performed vocal works by Luigi Nono, Witold Lutoslawski, Pierre Boulez, Bruno Maderna, Kazimierz Serocki, Arnold Schoenberg, Anton Webern, Alban Berg and Igor Stravinsky. She frerquently interpreted also works written by her husband - composer Augustyn Bloch (Espressioni, Meditations, Salmo gioioso).

Program 2 Polskiego Radia i Polski Chór Kameralny zapraszają 4 września 2016 roku o godz. 19.00 do Studia im. W. Lutosławskiego na koncert pt. „Nowowiejski, Pałłasz, Bloch”. Polski Chór Kameralny poprowadzi Jan Łukaszewski.

W programie koncertu znajdą się dzieła chóralne znakomitych polskich kompozytorów: Teka Białowieska Feliksa Nowowiejskiego, Anenaiki oraz Exaltabo te Augustyna Blocha, a także Et… oraz Dwie pieśni do słów Osipa Mandelsztama autorstwa Edwarda Pałłasza. Utwory zabrzmią w wykonaniu Polskiego Chóru Kameralnego.

Znakomity zespół, działający od 1978 roku, dokonał już ponad 550 prawykonań, w tym dzieł takich kompozytorów jak Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar czy Krzysztof Penderecki. Swoje utwory dedykowali Chórowi m.in.: Augustyn Bloch, Krzysztof Meyer, Andrzej Koszewski, Paweł Łukaszewski. Niezmienna od lat, najwyższa jakość brzmienia i interpretacji Polskiego Chóru Kameralnego gwarantuje mu współpracę z najlepszymi światowymi orkiestrami (m.in. Academy of Ancient Music, Divino Sospiro, Neue Düsseldorfer Hofmusik, Concilium Musicum Wien, SinfoniaVarsovia, NOSPR, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin) oraz znakomitymi dyrygentami chóralnymi (m.in. Eric Ericson, Uwe Gronostay i Stephen Layton).

Podczas koncertu 4 września Chór poprowadzi jego dyrektor Jan Łukaszewski, uznawany za jednego z najwybitniejszych w Europie specjalistów w dziedzinie muzyki chóralnej, który pełni także funkcję dyrektora artystycznego Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Mozartowskiego Mozartiana. Obok Polskiego Chóru Kameralnego prowadzi także Chór Chłopięco-Męski Pueri Cantores Olivenses. Ze swoimi zespołami koncertował niemal we wszystkich krajach Europy, Stanach Zjednoczonych, Kanadzie, Chinach i Japonii. Z jego inspiracji odbyły się m.in. Międzynarodowe Sympozja Muzyki Chóralnej, Dni Bachowskie, a także Festiwal Chopin w Gdańsku.

Warsaw Organ Festival "Organy Śródmieścia" (The Organ of the City Centre) will be held between September 4 and October 23, 2016 in different churches in the Warsaw city centre.

The Festival was founded in 2002 by Warsaw organist Przemysław Kapituła. Held annually, it consists of a number of organ recitals performed by master organ players. The programme of each recital is suited to the characteristics of the instrument. The concerts are preceded by a commentary on the organ history and construction techniques.

Over the past centuries, Warsaw sanctuaries have been equipped with several dozen pipe organ of different types that vary in their construction, sound features, and individual characteristics. Several temples located in the Warsaw city centre possess noticeable instruments, many of which have been splendidly renovated. The Festival’s goal it to revive and present organ as an important element of the culture of Warsaw.

Warsaw Philharmonic Choir under the baton of Kazimierz Bukat will give a performance on September 4, 2016 at 5.00 pm at the St. John Baptist Church in Magnuszew.

The concert will be a part of the 13th edition of the "Mazovia in the Crown" Festival organized by the Mazovia Institute of Culture. The programme includes sacral music by Wacław z Szmotuł, Mikołaj Zieleński, Georg Friedrich Haendel, Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Gioacchino Rossini, as well as Gaude Mater Polonia by Wincenty z Kielczy and choral parts from Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco and Traviata, and Stanisław Moniuszko’s The Hanuted Manor.

Next concerts will be held on September 9 at the St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Church in Skrzeszew and September 16 at the Holy Trinity Church in Myszyniec.

4th edition of the series of events held dunder the title "Warszawa jest trendy" will take place in several venues of Warsaw on September 2-4, 2016.

The programme offers a wide range of various events and activities, including classical, pop and jazz music concerts, threatre performances, film screenings, workshops, exhibitions, dance and sporting events, sightseeing tours as well as events for children. From Friday afternoon till Sunday evening, it will also be possible to enter selected sporting centres at reduced price or use discounts at restaurants and cafes listed at the event's official website.
