Opole | 'Star Zone': Heroins

Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

Moldavian violinist Alexandra Conunova as well as the overture and two symphonies will be the highlights of the Opole Philharmonic's "Star Zone" concert series. On the 13th of May 2022 at 19.00 the Opole Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Michał Klauza will perform works by Andrzej Panufnik, Édouard Lalo and Ludwig van Beethoven.

‘The idea of composing the Heroic Overture, with a triumphant ending, came to my mind in September 1939, when the first attack of the Nazi invaders on Warsaw met with the heroic resistance of the Polish nation’ recalled Andrzej Panufnik years later. In the early 1950s the theme abandoned years before returned to the composer. A few minutes long Heroic Overture was performed for the first time by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under Witold Rowicki.

Édouard Lalo wrote his Spanish Symphony with its first performer, the Spanish violin virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate in mind. The work is, in fact, a concert symphony. Beethoven's famous ‘Eroica’ Symphony No. 3 will be presented in the final part of the concert.
