The "Czas Sztuki" Foundation invites you on 26 and 27 September 2020 to the next events of this year's "Mazovian Musical Meetings without Barriers" in Mińsk Mazowiecki and Cegłów.

Katarzyna Wiwer (soprano), Joanna Solecka (harpsichord) and Tomasz Ślusarczyk (baroque trumpet) will perform beautiful baroque compositions by Georg Friedrich Handel and Alessandro Scarlatti on 26 September at 7.00 p.m. at the Municipal Cultural Centre in Mińsk Mazowiecki.

The concert entitled "Great Polish Composers" will be held on 27 September at 7.00 p.m. at the 'Kulturoteka" Commune Public Library in Cegłów. The Time Quartet will present the most famous works of Polish composers: Stanisław Moniuszko, Fryderyk Chopin, Grażyna Bacewicz, Ignacy Jan Paderewski as well as Polish folk songs arranged for string quartet

The winners of the 19th edition of the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award were announced on 24 September 2020 at 12.00 p.m. during an online conference.

The conference was attended by representatives of Masovian authorities and the chairman of the Norwid Chapter. In the "Music" category, nominations for the work or performance created in 2019 went to: Marta Boberska for the roles of Music and Eurydice in the premiere of Claudio Monteverdi's Orpheus (Polish Royal Opera), Paweł Łukaszewski for the work Ascensio Domini and Paweł Mykietyn.

In accordance with the decision of the Norwid Chapter, the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award in the "Music" category went to the composer and clarinetist Paweł Mykietyn for Concerto No. 2 for cello and symphony orchestra. Let us recall that the composer received this Award for the first time in 2017 for the opera The Magic Mountain.

The Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award is awarded annually to artists working in Masovia in four categories: literature, music, fine arts and theater for an outstanding work or performance created in the preceding year. Since 2005, the Self-Government of the Masovian Voivodeship has also awarded "The Lifetime Achievement" award to artists who work in the Masovian Voivodeship.

"Contemporary and classical music" will constitute the programme of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic concert on 25 September 2020 at 7.00 p.m. The Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by the Australian conductor Daniel Smith, winner of the Fitelberg Competition 2012, and the soloist will be the winner of the Wieniawski Competition 2006 – violinist Agata Szymczewska.

Does contemporary music have to be difficult? Mikołaj Górecki, son of the eminent Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, proves that it does not. His works combine delicate lyricism with moderately modern language and are always attractive for soloists. That is why so many of his concertos are very eagerly performed by leading Polish and foreign soloists. During the upcoming concert Agata Szymczewska will perform Mikołaj Górecki's Violin Concerto, Op. 13.

The concert will begin with the Overture to Gioacchino Rossini's opera The Barber of Seville. In the second part we will hear a masterpiece of all time – Symphony in C major No. 41 KV 551 "Jupiter" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Overture to his opera Don Giovanni. These works provide an excellent opportunity for the orchestra to shine with full brilliance.

The last concert in the series "Time is love. In tribute to the Primate of the Millennium in the year of beatification", will take place at the Henryk Wieniawski Philharmonic in Lublin on 25 September 2020 at 7.00 p.m.

On 3 October 2019, Pope Francis approved a decree that opens the way to the beatification of the Primate of the Millennium. The ceremony was to take place in June this year, but due to the threat of the epidemic, the event was postponed to an unspecified date, so that many of the faithful from all over the world could join the celebration on the spot. The common experience of the Primate's beatification is currently continued in the spiritual dimension, through the art of music.

During the last cncert in the "Time is love" series, the Lublin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jerzy Swoboda will present works by Tomas Albinoni, Johann Sebastian Bach, Thomas Emanuel Cornelius – the first organist of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the main organ builder of Hamburg, who will also perform as a soloist, as well as Mieczysław Karłowicz's Serenade for string orchestra, Op. 2 and Wojciech Kilar's Orawa, a symphonic poem for string orchestra which reflects the musical traditions of the Podhale region.

The Silesian Chamber Orchestra and the Silesian Philharmonic Choir will open the 76th artistic season with a concert on 25 September 2020 at 7.00 p.m., featuring works by Polish composers of the 20th and 21st centuries as well as compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The programme of the concert will include two works of the same title – Three Pieces in Old Style for string orchestra written by the patron of the Silesian Philharmonic, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, and by the deceased Krzysztof Penderecki.

The Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maciej Tomasiewicz, together with the outstanding soprano Bożena Bujnicka, will premiere Mikołaj Górecki's O dolce lume, a one-movement piece based on Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. The work was created as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme carried out by the Institute of Music and Dance.

The inaugural concert will also feature three compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony in C major KV 162, Laudate Dominum omnes gentes from Vesperae solennes de Confessore KV 339 and Mass in C major KV 317. The artists of the Silesian Philharmonic Choir will perform solo parts: Agata Piękosz-Pierszalik (alto), Tomasz Dziwisz (tenor) and Michał Schoppa (bass).
