New Music in the Old Town Hall: In a Sonic Network

NCKThe Baltic Sea Cultural Centre in collaboration with Polish Society of Electroacoustic Music, The Department of Composition of Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk and De eM Studio invite you on 7 May 2020 at 7 .pm. to a concert of the series "New Music in the Old Town Hall" entitled In a Sonic Network.

In this difficult and hard time, the organisers are trying to promote contemporary music by continuing the series of concerts "New Music in the Old Town Hall" online. The upcoming concert will feature excellent artists, including Edward Sielicki, Bożena Boba-Dyga, Lorenzo Brusci, Krzysztof Gawlas, Henrik von Coler, Mehmet Can Özer and Dariusz Mazurowski, in a programme composed almost entirely of world premieres.

We will listen to Krzysztof Gawlas' Abstract Objects 5 (2020) for modular synthesizer and computer sound projection, Henrik von Coler's Die polnischen Reisen (2020) for live electronics and field recordings, Edward Sielicki's Three Mazurkas "In tempore pestis" (2020) for electronic sounds, Mehmet Can Özer's Isolation Music no. 2 (2020) for computer, Bożena Boba-Dyga's BoBaSoLo (2020) for voice, small percussive instruments and electronics,  Lorenzo Brusci's ACHOUSMATI / An acousmatic exploration of a multi-habit-set-up during the lockdown, April 2020 (2020) for live electronics, fixed media, given habitat, improvised behavioral exploration, binaural microphones and environmental speakers. In addition, Dariusz Mazurowski's Trojan Planets (2014 / new version, 2020) for live electronics and computer will be peerformed for the first time in a new version.

#stayathome and sing with us – online educational project of the Silesian Philharmonic

The Silesian Philharmonic invites all children who miss the joy of singing together to participate in the online classes "#stayathome and sing with us!", which will be held every Sunday at 11.00 a.m. both on Facebook and on the Silesian Philharmonic YouTube channel. The first meeting will take place on 26 April 2020.

The Silesian Philharmonic Choir, Barbara Badura and Adam Żaak as amazing Bimsala Tralalala will take children and their parents on a musical journey. During the meeting, participants will learn about the secrets of working in a choir, they will learn how to properly prepare for singing and they will perform a song with the choir – all without leaving home.

Project "#stayathome and sing with us" is directed at children from 3 to 10 years old. Great fun will not only allow you to spend a pleasant time, but also develop creativity, skills, and maybe ... awaken a new passion?

Dear parents, we encourage you to introduce your children to the magical world of music! Regardless of whether it will be your first adventure with the Silesian Philharmonic, or you have already participated in the "Academy of Musical Taste" programmes, you can join the Philharmonic on Sunday mornings!

Organ Horizons – online concerts

The ARS PRO ARTE Foundation for the Promotion of Culture and Art together with the Centre for Culture and Promotion in Kroscienko nad Dunajcem and the All Saints Parish invite you to online concerts of organ and vocal-organ music entitled "Organ Horizons" ("OrgaNove Horyzonty") which will be held at 7 p.m. on subsequent Saturdays, from 18 April to 9 May 2020.

The organisers will share on their websites (www.arsproarte.pl, www.ckipkroscienko.pl) and Facebook profiles fragments of concerts recorded in the heart of the Pieniny, in an empty church of Christ the Good Shepherd in Krościenko nad Dunajcem. The concerts will be performed by Kraków organ virtuoso Marek Stefański and soprano Milena Sołtys-Walosik from Krościenko.

The series of four mini concerts, recorded thanks to the kindness of sound engineer Szczepan Sołtys, is a continuation of "Organ Quarantine" ("OrgaNova kwarantanna"), which was streamed on the Internet every day of Holy Week. The concerts programme included, among others Ave Maria by Michał Lorenc and Marek Stefański's arrangements of Johann Sebastian Bach's Meine Seele erhebt den Herren (My soul magnifies the Lord), Johann Ludwig Krebs' Luebster Jesu wir sind hier (Beloved Jesus, here we stand), and Johann Gottfried Walther's Vater unser im Himmelreich (Our Father in Heaven).

17th Tadeusz Ochlewski Composition Competition for a string quartet

In the year of its 75th anniversary, PWM Edition announces the 17th Tadeusz Ochlewski Composition Competition for a string quartet. The deadline for submitting entries is 23 October 2020.

The competition is directed at young composers with Polish citizenship who are under 30 years of age by 23 October 2020. The works will be evaluated by the Jury composed of: Eugeniusz Knapik, Arkadiusz Kubica, Iwona Lindstedt, Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa and Daniel Cichy.

The prizes in the Competition are:

  • cash prize in the amount of PLN 10,000,
  • print publication of the winning work by PWM Edition,
  • public performance of the awarded composition.

6th International Composition Compteition "Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki"

SC The Orchestra of the Royal Capital City of Krakow – Sinfonietta Cracovia announces the 6th International Composition Competition "Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki", dedicated to the memory of Maestro associated with the Orchestra from the very beginning of its existence.

Competition is aimed to promote young composers and to broaden the repertoire for string orchestra. The subject of the Competition is an original piece entitled Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki for a string orchestra and percussion (max. ensemble formation 6-5-4-4-1 / perk. 3). Duration of the piece must be from 7 to 12 minutes. Entry into the competition is open to all composers under 40 years of age. Each participant can submit no more than two compositions.

Materials for the Competition in the form of digital files should be sent via the online Application Form, which is available at: http://tiny.cc/sinfonietta. Sending any materials / documents in paper form is neighter required nor allowed. Application deadline is 30 June 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

The function of the Honorary Chairwoman of the Competition's Jury is held by Mrs. Elżbieta Penderecka. The Competition's jury consists of recognized experts in the field of composition: Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, Eugeniusz Knapik, Marcel Chyrzyński and Jurek Dybał.

The Competition's prize consist of a premiere performance of the winning composition Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki during the Sinfonietta Festival in Kraków, including its professional audio-video recording and other performances of the piece during the 2020/2021 concert season. Due to pandemic of the coronavirus the Organizer reserves the right to change the form of the Competition's prize.

Information about the winners and prize-awarded compositions will be published on the Organizer's website: www.sinfonietta.pl no later than 7 July 2020.

Open Call: "The Science of Fiction"

The "Science of Fiction" competition, organized on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Stanisław Lem in 2021, is an opportunity to cooperate with one of the most important ensembles of new music. Two Polish composers have a chance to take part in a workshop with Klangforum Wien in Austria next year and hear a premiere of their own work performed by the emsmble at a special concert dedicated to Lem's memory.

The project is directed at composers with Polish citizenship, born after 1 January 1979. The prize for the two selected composers will be the commission from IAM for a work for the Klangforum Wien ensemble, whose maximum composition is: flute, oboe, 2 clarinets, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, 2 trombones, 3 violins, viola, 2 cellos, double bass, 2 percussions, piano, accordion, and harp; duration 7-10 minutes; based on a contract concluded between IAM with each of the composers; amount of remuneration PLN 30,000 gross. Klangforum Wien will organize rehearsals and workshops for each of the composers and will ensure their participation in the ensemble's concert in one of the European countries (outside Poland) in 2021. IAM will cover the costs of travel in Europe and accommodation related to the participation of each composer in rehearsals and workshops, as well as a concert.

In order to participate in the project, you should send an electronic submission containing recordings of your own work(s) (in mp3 format) and a short written statement explaining your interest in working with Klangforum Wien.

"Mobile in Culture": open competition organised by the Culture Office

President of the Capital City Warsaw announces an open competition of offers for the implementation of a public task in 2020 in the field of culture, art, protection of cultural goods and national heritage, and invites to send offers by 8 May 2020.

It is an open competition of offers for non-governmental organizations, which goal is to support the development of the potential of Warsaw's cultural environments and the competences of cultural staff in accordance with the Culture Development Programme until 2020 ("Creation and People" area) and #Warsaw2030 strategy, in particular such operational objectives like: 2.2. We spend free time close to home and 4.1 We develop our creative potential. The support system will concern cultural, educational and dissemination activities (also on the Internet), creation of creative concepts and development of competences related to cultural activities implemented by natural persons on the basis of individual proposals.

A programme operator, selected during the competiton, will commission natural persons – artists, animators, curators, educators – to implement:

• concepts of actions, cultural activities, works, events, projects, also online; concepts of competence development;

• concepts regarding the professional reorientation of artists, performers, organisers, educators, animators, and cultural researchers.

The operator will be able to present the effects of the programme online. The programme is designed for at least 100 people. The city allocated PLN 1 million for this purpose.

Zielona Góra | Bel canto

ZGThe Tadeusz Baird Philharmonic in Zielona Góra invites you to a unique online concert of chamber works by Polish composers, which will be broadcast on 5 May 2020 at 7.00 p.m.

The concert will be performed by soprano Marzanna Rudnicka – soloist of the Chamber Opera in Warsaw and the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk, and pianist Ryszard Zimnicki. The programme will feature songs from Stanisław Moniuszko's Songbook for Home Use, including A Little Flower, Spring, Converted Woman, Kitten, Field Rose, as well as pieces by Fryderyk Chopin and Karol Szymanowski.

Marzanna Rudnicka graduated with honours from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the class of Prof. Magdalena Bojanowska. Then she perfected her vocal skills at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. She obtained a PhD in vocal performance at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is an adjunct at the Institute of Music of the University of Zielona Góra. She has performed in Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, Israel and Lebanon. In 2005 she was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland.
